Purme Foundation Holds 20th Anniversary Ceremony, Pledges to Expand Support for People with Disabilities and Their Families
The Purme Foundation has pledged to expand its support for people with disabilities and their families as it celebrates its 20th anniversary. On October 29, 2025, the Purme Foundation successfully held its 20th anniversary ceremony at the Baekyang Nuri Grand Ballroom at Yonsei University in Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, looking back on its achievements over the past 20 years and presenting its vision for the future. The ceremony was attended by approximately 270 people, including National Assembly Speaker Woo Won-shik, Representatives Park Joo-min and Kim Ye-ji, corporate representatives including Nexon CEO Kim Jung-wook, and supporters and volunteers who support the Purme Foundation's activities. Attendees expressed their gratitude for the Purme Foundation's dedication to delivering hope to people with disabilities and their families and contributing to social integration over the past 20 years, and pledged their continued interest and support.
Since its establishment in 2005, the Purme Foundation has been providing integrated support in various fields such as medical care, rehabilitation, education, and employment to help people with disabilities live 'ordinary lives' as dignified members of society. In particular, in 2016, it established the Purme Foundation Nexon Children's Rehabilitation Hospital in Mapo-gu, Seoul, making a significant contribution to creating an environment where children with disabilities can receive specialized rehabilitation treatment. In addition, in 2022, it established Purme Social Farm, a workplace to help young adults with developmental disabilities become self-sufficient, supporting them to cultivate social skills and achieve economic independence through agriculture. In this way, the Purme Foundation is constantly discovering and promoting new projects to improve the quality of life for people with disabilities and is taking the lead in creating social value.
Over the past 20 years, the Purme Foundation has provided direct and indirect support to a total of 8,150,449 people with disabilities and their families, bringing positive changes to their lives. Through various forms of support such as medical expense assistance, rehabilitation program operation, education projects, and vocational training, it has helped people with disabilities participate in society and become self-sufficient. In addition, it provides counseling and education programs to families of people with disabilities, contributing to the overall well-being of family members. These efforts of the Purme Foundation have inspired hope in the lives of countless people and have had a major impact on improving social awareness of disabilities as a whole. A foundation official said, "We will continue to do our best to ensure that people with disabilities and their families can live happy lives, and we will work harder to create a world without social prejudice and discrimination."
At the ceremony, Kim Hye-kyung delivered a message via video congratulating the Purme Foundation on its 20th anniversary, adding to the significance of the event. In the video, Kim Hye-kyung said, "I am deeply grateful to the Purme Foundation for its dedication to delivering hope to people with disabilities and their families and contributing to social integration over the past 20 years," and "I hope that the Purme Foundation will continue to develop and take the lead in supporting people with disabilities to live happy lives." She also added, "The government will further strengthen disability policies to ensure that people with disabilities can live as members of society without discrimination." Kim Hye-kyung's congratulatory message deeply moved the attendees and raised expectations for the Purme Foundation's future activities. The Purme Foundation said that it will continue to promote various projects for people with disabilities and their families and will work harder to create social value.
