People Power Party's Gwangju Chapter to Launch 'Conservative Revival' Political Academy in November
The People Power Party's (PPP) Gwangju chapter is garnering attention in local political circles as it prepares to launch its political academy on November 15, under the banner of 'conservative revival.' This initiative is seen as a key strategy for the PPP's Gwangju chapter to strengthen its support base and promote conservative values within the region.
The PPP's Gwangju chapter officially announced its plans to operate the political academy through a press release on November 3, 2025, revealing specific details about the curriculum and faculty. A representative from the Gwangju chapter stated, "We aim to contribute practically to spreading sound conservative values in the local community and expanding citizen participation in politics through this political academy." They added, "We have prepared various programs to help Gwangju citizens better understand conservative values and actively participate in the development of the local community."
The political academy is scheduled to begin on November 15, 2025, and will consist of a total of six special lectures until December 17. The PPP's Gwangju chapter plans to invite experts from various fields, including politics, economics, and society, to provide in-depth lectures. The goal is to provide students with a broad range of knowledge and a balanced perspective. It was emphasized that the program will focus on encouraging student participation through real-world case studies and discussions, going beyond simple theoretical education.
Former National Assembly member Lee Jung-hyun has been appointed as the president of the PPP's Gwangju chapter political academy and will oversee the overall operation. Lee will play a key role in the academy's operations, including curriculum development and faculty recruitment, and will actively support the successful operation of the academy. The PPP's Gwangju chapter anticipates that Lee's extensive political experience and leadership will greatly contribute to the academy's development.
Lee Jung-hyun stated, "I will devote all my efforts to providing high-quality political education opportunities to Gwangju citizens and nurturing talent that can contribute to the development of the local community." The faculty of the political academy includes experts representing various fields, such as Kim Min-soo, a member of the PPP's Supreme Council, Cho Jung-gwan, a professor of political science and diplomacy at Chonnam National University, and Yoon Sang-hyun, a member of the National Assembly.
